Our story
In 2023, Ton Bongers and his sons, Dirk and Bram, embarked on a journey that had been quietly taking shape across generations. With a shared love for craftsmanship, heritage, and the patience that true quality demands, they acquired six whisky casks—numbers 1666 through 1671—distilled at the renowned Tullibardine distillery in Scotland.
Each cask holds a 60% ABV spirit resting in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, allowing it to absorb the purest influences of oak, vanilla, and time itself. Together with seasoned whisky experts, the family carefully monitors the maturation of every drop, fully embracing the poetic tension between nature and mastery.
As the whisky evolves, so does the vision. At just the right moment, the Bongers family will add a deliberate finishing touch—an expression of their own taste, craft, and philosophy. The result will be bottled under their private label: Ubhal Ghort.
“Ubhal Ghort,” the Gaelic word for orchard, is more than a name. It is a tribute to the Bongers family tree—its roots, its branches, and the generations nourishing its growth. An orchard symbolises patience, care, renewal, and the quiet certainty that time brings richness. It is this spirit that flows through every cask.

Design
To help fuel this ambitious family venture, we curate and offer a selection of exceptional whiskies—some rare, others simply too beautiful to leave behind. Every bottle featured in our webshop is chosen with the same care and curiosity that guide our own cask journey. We believe that great whisky deserves to be discovered, shared, and enjoyed, and our collection reflects the passion that brought Ubhal Ghort to life.
In the near future, our own expressions—crafted from the six Tullibardine casks and finished with distinctive touches—will join this selection. Each release will carry the Ubhal Ghort signature: family craftsmanship, thoughtful maturation, and the quiet strength of time.
As soon as we can share more about these upcoming editions, enthusiasts will have the opportunity to register in advance for our limited-release specials. These bottlings will be produced in small quantities, each telling a part of our orchard-grown story.
