Macallan, Diamonds Are Forever

Prijs

€950,00

The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release is a limited-edition 18-year-old single malt Scotch whisky launched in February 2026 to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the 1971 James Bond film. It is notable for being the first official Macallan bottling to feature maturation in red wine-seasoned casks alongside traditional sherry-seasoned oak.

Profile:

  • Age and Vintage: Distilled in 2007 (a nod to "007") and aged for 18 years.
  • ABV: Bottled at 45.5%.
  • Cask Types: A combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak "hybrid" casks, plus American oak casks that previously held red wine.
  • Natural Color: Named "Nevada Rock," a warm amber hue inspired by the Aztec sandstone of the Nevada desert seen in the film.

Tasting Notes

  • Experts and the distillery describe the whisky as follows:
  • Nose: Polished oak, vanilla bean, and rich dried fruits.
  • Palate: Creamy vanilla, caramel, cocoa-dusted truffles, coffee, and dried fruits like figs and apricots, with subtle spices like nutmeg.
  • Finish: Long and refined with lingering warmth.

Packaging and Design

The presentation draws heavily from original production art in the Bond archives:

  • Artwork: The bottle and cylindrical box feature graphics of the film's laser-beam satellite, original script pages, and technical drawings.
  • Visual Cues: Design elements also reference the film's iconic opening title sequence and the villain's white cat.
